Lectures & Workshops

Interested in listening to a speaker or taking a class on synth-related topics?
We have a solid day of lectures and workshops for you.

Performances

If sitting back and hearing new performances from some of New England’s most amazing synth performers and visual artists is your thing, you’re in for a great afternoon!

From Noon till 6 pm can expect a new act every thirty minutes…which means an ever-shifting collection of new sounds, new visuals, and new aural experiences. If you can’t make it to the live show, you can view the stream on our YouTube Channel.

Exhibits & Vendors

Under the spell of a little Gear Acquisition Syndrome?
We’ve got vendors with awesome synths and synth-related gear, as well as exhibits of new futuristic techniques and classic synths from days of yore.

The Jam room

Do the words “groove boxes and synchronization” make you happy?
We have a room dedicated to letting people jam…with clock sync provided! Work together to get a synth groove moving with new friends from the synth community.

Our friendly Jam Room Leaders will set you up on one of our provided systems, get you synced, and then you can contribute the sonic mayhem in real-time with others. There are even slots for you to hook into the sync if you bring your own gear*.

If collaborative jamming is something you want to learn about, this is the place!

Jam room infrastructure/leadership kindly provided by Circuit Happy!

Synthesizer Petting Zoo

Have you ever wanted to touch everything in the museum? You can!
Come check out our “petting zoo,” where local community members have set up a collection of their favorite synthesizers, and (if you bring headphones) you can plug in and try everything!

If you get lost or need help, our staff of “synth handlers” will be there to give you a hand.

PLEASE NOTE: Bring your headphones (mostly 1/4″ jacks – 1/8″ adapters, too) to hear the synths. With so much in one room, we don’t use amplification…that would bring down the house!

Appropriate disinfectant materials will be on hand.

(Got a cool synth you want to bring to the zoo? Let us know!)

DIY Workshop hosted by synthCube (10AM-12PM)

Join us for a guided build of synthCube’s first in-house eurorack module, PG-13. The PG-13 is so easy to build, even a kid could do it! (Adult supervision recommended).

PG-13 is a simple, yet endlessly useful, passive dual gate with a tone control, i.e., a pseudo-LPG, but no resonance. Feed it a signal and use CV to control its amplitude. The vactrol adds a subtle “release” envelope to simple trigger pulses, freeing up an envelope for other uses.

This module is a great first build for those new to synth DIY, or those who want an easy refresher.

  • To register for the workshop, follow the link below and purchase the PG-13 kit
  • Workshop registrants will meet in the foyer of the Microsoft building at 9:55AM on Saturday October 28th.
  • All parts and tools you need will be made available at the workshop.
  • All the components are through-hole, and the circuit does not connect directly to your power supply.
